2026 2ND QUARTER TREND REPORT

Hello!

We’re in a new quarter, which means it’s time for some fresh hair inspiration. This season is all about freshness. The first quarter of 2026 has been… well, it’s been something. So as we move into spring, here are a few of my recommendations for hairstyles and colors this season.
These suggestions are based purely on what I’m personally excited to see and create on my clients. This isn’t bible —you're always free to wear your hair however you like.

Short Styles

I’ll be honest—I’m a little over the two-block style for short hair. If you’re just discovering it, I’m sorry to say it’s actually been around for a long time. Longer hair on top just isn’t feeling as fresh right now.
Shorter styles are really having a moment. If you search Chinese men’s short hairstyles (below right), you’ll see a lot of beautiful cropped styles that feel modern and clean.

And honestly, if Tan France can switch up his look after 10 years and go for a short cropped style, I think you can too.

Short and Mid-Length Styles

Mid-length hair—somewhere between the collarbone and upper chest—is still very popular, and I’m happy to keep that going through spring and summer.

But here’s a challenge for those of you with longer hair: try blow-drying your hair more often. I’ll write more about this soon, but for now my mid-length clients can keep enjoying this easy, flattering length.

Long Styles

If you have long hair, my main encouragement is simple: come in for at least one haircut before summer.
Long layered styles are always on trend, but I know some of my long-haired clients haven’t visited in a while 😉

Color Trends

For men:
Let’s talk about eyebrows. Coloring your brows can add definition to your face without fully committing to coloring your hair. Shaping and slightly shading the brows can be a real game changer.

For longer styles:
Cool, ashy tones are officially out for now—let’s let them rest. With the current late ‘90s and early 2000s inspiration happening in fashion and beauty, warmer tones are coming back.
Think soft caramel brunettes and warm blondes that enhance your natural features.

Ashy tones had their moment around 2016. Maybe we’ll revisit them again in another 10 years.

new year, new habits

One of the ways I’ve been distracting myself this first quarter is by participating in a "New Year, New Me" challenge hosted by the influencer @kailawenn on Instagram. I wanted to create new habits to carry into the new year.

Here are a few routines I’ve been working on:
- Move at your own pace: 30 minutes a day, whether it’s walking, running, stretching, meditating, or any other movement. If 30 minutes feels like too much, promise yourself at least 10 minutes.
- The Everything Shower: This was new for me, but I really love it. It's all about taking the time for the things we often skip—like dry brushing, exfoliating, shaving, hair treatments, and foot pumicing.
- Sleep-time routine: I make sure to drink 8 oz of water or tea, brush my teeth, remove my contacts, wash my face, turn on my heat pad for my lower back (getting old), and use a steam eye mask.

These routines have helped me slow things down and truly dedicate time to myself. I know the world can feel fast-paced, but I’ve decided that in the areas where I have control, I want to honor my body and the time I’ve been given.

I know it’s easy to focus on what we can’t do, but have you thought about what you can?
Enjoy yourselves until we meet again.

micro-needling

before you read, please know that i am writing this in “Pang Words” which is my interpretation of the procedure so i can understand it better. if you want more information please contact Vanessa, my aesthetic esthetician or reach out to a professional who specializes in this field.

let’s go!
through out the blog, i’m going to refer to it as a procedure because it is more invasive than a regular facial. the esthetician is certified and licensed to use the tools. and there can be blood depending on intensity agreed upon during the consultation. also the after care is no joke, you want to heal the wounded skin correctly, thus it is a serious service to me.

what is microneedling? it’s an aesthetic procedure to create a superficial (shallow non invasive) wound on top layer of skin to alert the skin to boost the collagen reproduction, product better texture and boost skins natural glow. This procedure isnt for every skin type, so i would book a consultation before booking the service to make sure you are booking the correct service.

who is a great candidate? anyone who wants to repair skin texture and boost skin health must not have any current open wounds on face or neck at the time of the procedure

Healing time: 3-4 days for reduced redness and 7 days for full skin recovery

cost: $350-$450+ per session depending on location

How often do you have to do this procedure?  i was recommended 4 sessions to be completed within 4months. They have to be done every month to guarantee a beautiful final result

why i chose this procedure: i went to south korea and the aesthetic doctor there recommended the service to me because of my skin texture BUT it wouldn’t be affective just doing one session. i have to get a series of 4 done to see the best results.

when you should book? i like to do my intense facials or procedures in the winter time because i can hide easily during the healing process and also make sure my healing skin isn’t exposed to direct UV light or sun.

Frequency of this service? For me i will probably do this once every 18-24 months. It is a financial investment and honestly i dont want to pay for it every year. So i will proceed with a year and a half to two years with this service.

what to wear

Hello!

Wondering what to wear to your hair appointment? Choose comfortable clothes that won’t interfere with your stylist’s work. Opt for a loose-fitting top, avoid heavy jewelry, and consider wearing a button-up or something easy to take off. Ensure your outfit keeps you relaxed and stylish during your visit!
Below are a few clothing options I recommend to ensure you get the best possible result from your service. I want to make sure your haircut is symmetrical, your color looks amazing, and your clothing stays safe from any potential mess.
As you read the info below, you might be thinking, “Wow, she’s repeating herself a lot!” But believe it or not, in my 16 years of doing hair, this is something I find myself saying almost every day! So, whether you're a seasoned salon-goer or it’s your first time, here’s a little reminder (or heads-up) on what can make your experience smoother and stress-free.

T-shirt
A classic T-shirt is always my top recommendation for your hair service. It doesn’t matter if it's a V-neck, crew neck, boat neck, or U-shape—whatever you feel comfy in! A simple T-shirt works great because there's no collar to get in the way of your new hairstyle, and it won’t be at risk of getting damaged by color.

Crew Neck Sweatshirt/Jumper
If it’s chilly and you want to stay cozy during your appointment, a crew neck sweatshirt or jumper is a perfect choice! Again, no collar to interfere with your service.

Zip-up Hoodie (with an undershirt)
You might be surprised by how many people forget to wear an undershirt with their hoodie or zip-up, but please, do me a favor and throw one on! It helps me make sure I can get your haircut as precise as possible.

Looking forward to seeing you at your appointment!

2025 HAIR MOOD BOARD

2025 Mood Board

Here’s my mood board for 2025—though I might switch it up halfway through the year! Below the photo, I’ll explain each category and what I love about it.

This mood board is mainly for my clients with straight, fine hair, but it’s definitely not limited to just that. If you feel like your hair type isn’t represented, don’t worry—many of these looks can be adapted for all hair types!

Perms

Perms are finally getting some attention here in Minnesota! I’ve been perfecting my perming skills for two years now, waiting for people to ask for them—and now it’s happening! There are two types of perms: Cold Wave and Digital Perm. Both give you soft waves, but they’re done a little differently. Digital perms work best on hair that's longer than chin-length.

Mid-Length Styles

Mid-length hair is the trend for 2025 and will probably stay popular all year. A lot of clients who’ve had layered hair are now ready for a change—something shorter and fresher as they head into their next hair growth phase.

Shorter Styles

Short hair is for everyone! Whether you’re growing your hair out or just ready for a shorter cut, this look is great for both men and women. If you’ve got curly or wavy hair, a perm on a short style is a perfect match. Many of these short styles are trending with male clients—especially those who go for a low fade with a heavier top. This has been super popular with clients ages 17–22.

Layered Styles

There are two main types of layered cuts: long and short layers. Depending on the vibe you’re going for, you can pick either. Long layers usually start below the shoulders, while shorter layers begin above the shoulders.

Color Trends

More clients are going for light brown and cherry cola colors—perfect for brunettes who want something low-maintenance. For those who want a little more pop, visible highlights are trending for both blondes and brunettes. This style is huge in Korea and Japan right now, as well as in the street style scene, where mixing textures and colors creates a fun, bold look
